About Me |

WHO is Hulawood Hawaii? Kehaulani Zahn, CEO and Founder, owns and operates this sole proprietorship. Born on the island of Kaua’i and raised in the fishing community of Anahola, Kehaulani has been dancing hula since age 5. Following in the footsteps of her late Hawaiian grandmother, Mama Luka, she was born to be onstage and “turned Pro” at age 7, as the youngest dancer at the Kauai Surf Hotel. In the mid-80s, she attended the University of Redlands, CA, and formally established the Hawaii Club as President. The Hawaii Club started the First Annual Luau, which has become one of the most popular annual events in the community of Redlands. That was the start of Kehaulani’s Hollywood-Style Hula Teacher/Choreographer career. Shortly after graduation, she was crowned Miss Kaua’i — Attending her crowning event all the way from Japan, was a world-known actor and his family. He requested private hula lessons for his daughter— who is now a popular actress in Japan, like her father before her. As word spread, private hula lessons quickly ensued, with brides seeking her services to teach them solo hula performances to perform at their wedding receptions. In the late-80s, Kehaulani’s services were requested by a pageant contestant, who needed help with the talent phase of competition. It was in the pageant industry that Kehau found a niche for her style of hula. In the early 90s, she was asked to choreograph an opening number for a state pageant, and has since choreographed performances for several local preliminary and state pageants. In 2005, she created a hula program for military wives to perform at deployment homecomings and retirement parties. A trained a cappella singer, she toured with a 64-voice choir in 1981. She later performed with a local band at Aloha Tower in the early 90s. A “Proud Potagee”, she has the natural gift-of-gab, and has emceed for pageants, fashion shows, wedding receptions, and company parties.
